Cucumber - ways to use this amazing little vegetable

Now I'm not sure I want to use all these tips but some are just fantastic.

1. Fat busting: Do you ever wonder why women put cucumbers on their eyes to relieve puffiness? The photochemical in cucumbers makes the collagen in your skin tighten, thus the lack of puffiness. Did you know that you can rub a cucumber on a problematic spot of cellulite anywhere on your body to lessen the visibility of it? Did you also know that it has the same effect on wrinkles? Wow, it makes purchasing those fifty dollar creams seem a little silly, doesn’t it? You can also rub a little bit under your kiddo’s eyes after a long bout of crying to avoid that puffy ‘I cried for an hour straight’ look.

2. Defogger: Do you get annoyed when you get out of the shower and you have to fight the fog on the mirror? Who has time for that when the kids will be awake at any moment? Try rubbing a slice of cucumber on the mirror before you hop in and not only will you get a fog-free mirror, but you’ll have a nice smell that will boost your mood.

3. Headaches: If you suffer from headaches from chasing your babies all day (or pets or your husband), or had a little too much wine with dinner and want to avoid a hangover, eat half of a cucumber before bed. Cucumbers are high in B vitamins, sugar, and electrolytes, and they replenish the nutrients missing in your body to help you avoid a hang over or to beat that headache that’s been threatening to take over.

4. WD-40 replacement: Did you know you can get rid of a squeak by rubbing a cucumber on the hinge? Wow, now you don’t have to tear your garage apart looking for that little can with the red straw, and the baby won’t wake up when you slowly open the nursery door to check on him.

5. Crayon on the walls: Take an unpeeled cucumber and rub the crayon off of the walls in the event that your kiddo left you some art. You can also use this technique to erase a pen mistake.

6. Halitosis killer: Take a slice of cucumber and put it on the roof of your mouth. Hold it there with your tongue for 30 seconds. The photochemical that you love for cellulite and puff reduction will also kill the bacteria that is causing your bad breath.

7. Tarnish remover: If you’re finding tarnish on your stainless steel kitchen faucets and appliances? Rub it off with a cucumber slice. Not only will it remove years of tarnish, it will leave it streak free and your hands will thank you, and your kids won’t be put at risk from a dangerous chemical.

8. Energy booster: If you’re feeling tired in the afternoon, don’t give Starbucks your five bucks. Instead, grab a cucumber. There are just enough carbohydrates and B vitamins to give you a longer-lasting and healthier boost of energy than soda, coffee, or those health hazard energy drinks.

9. Munchy madness: Did you know that European trappers ate cucumbers for energy and to keep from starving to death? If those big burly manly men can eat a cucumber to keep from starving, you can eat one as a healthy choice when the munchies hit. Slice some up and take them in a small plastic container to the movies if your theater doesn’t offer healthy alternatives to munching on butter soaked popcorn.

10. Frugal facial: Slice up a cucumber and boil it in a pot of water. The chemicals inside of the cucumber will mix with the steam. Remove the pot from heat and lean over it, letting the steam hit you. Your skin will be more radiant and healthy, and you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

11. Shoe polish: Cut a slice off of your cucumber and rub it on your shoe. It will not only shine it up, but it will repel water.

12. Pest control: Put three or four slices of cucumber in a small pie tin and place them in your garden. The chemicals in the cucumber have a reaction that pests hate. You won’t smell it, but it will drive them from your garden all year long. Replace them periodically.

13. Sunburn: Sometimes sun block doesn't always protect your little ones from sunburn. If you have burnt little kiddos you don’t have any aloe, rub some cucumber on them. Many doctors even use cucumber to treat patients with irritated skin and sunburns.

14. Blood pressure: Cucumber has been long used to treat high blood pressure. If you have it, add cucumbers to your daily diet. There is also ongoing research into the use of cucumbers for lowering cholesterol.

15. Constipation remedy: The seeds of a cucumber are a diuretic. If you’re constipated, try eating a cucumber. If you suffer from chronic constipation, add cucumber to your daily diet

I really appreciate this information myself so I thought all of you might enjoy finding this little gem.

A quick run down on the Planets, Moon and Sun in Astrology

When most of us think of astrology, we think about our natal sign and not much else. Do you know what some of the major influences are though, that define these Zodiac signs?

Firstly there is the Sun. It is the center of all life and represents a person’s personality and spirit. It is the planetary ruler of the sign Leo.

The Moon, meanwhile, gives us our soul. The Moon is the ruling planet of the Zodiac sign Cancer. It is very much associated with the mother and with maternal instincts. In Chinese astrology, the Moon represents Yin, while the Sun represents Yang.

Mercury rules over Gemini and Virgo. It is the planet of the mind and of communication. In other words, it is the planet of the idea and the means to communicate the idea. The planet Venus rules over Taurus and Libra. Venus is associated with characteristics and principles of harmony and beauty. It is of course, concerned with love. It is also concerned with the pleasure we derive from personal possessions.

Mars is the ruling planet for the dynamic Aries, and to some astrologers, Scorpio, although modern astrologers now determine that Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio. Mars is the planet that is concerned with the things you want, and how you go about getting those things.

Jupiter is associated with pleasure and enjoyment. It is the ruler of Sagittarius and is also associated with principles of growth, religion and higher education.

Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn and is associated with principles such as reality and restrictions, boundaries and rules.

Saturn was traditionally the ruler of Aquarius until the discovery of the planet Uranus.

Neptune is the ruling planet of Pisces and is associated with deception, illusions, spirituality and psychic phenomena.

The planet Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio and is associated with the concept of transformation.

This why the planets and what they rule is significant. If for example you are born under the sign of cancer, meaning you are born between the 21st June and 20 July in any year. So you are family orientated, you have a kindness and softness to you. However what if your Ascendant is in Scorpio, somewhat more complex and secretive. The sting in the tail is you could become so overly protective of your family that you could almost smother them with your love.

Interesting isn't it?

So what is all this stuff with Numerology.

Well there is on real constant in life and that is numbers. Numbers never change. They have the same value no matter what - 1 is a single unit, 2 a couple, 3 a trinity etc .

So in numerology your date of birth is VERY important it is how we calculate  the Life Path number. If you want a comparison to Astrology it is like your zodiac sign. It relates to the traits you carry with you throughout life, the journey you will take during your lifetime. The day your were born for example the 2nd of the month aids the interpretation of the Life Path number so if you were born on the 2nd November 1963 you would have a Life Path number of 5. So whilst you are a 5 you also moulded by the 2.  A 5 Life path number is a number of change, change meaning growth, it is number of action and travel, freedom however a number 2 birth date is sensitive, you are a peacemaker and empathise with others. so how do we mix together the concept of a person who wants freedom and change with the sensitive person who empathises with others.

The numbers of your full birth name  form what is called the Destiny number. It is how you express yourself.

The consonants then make up the  Personality number. It is the outer you, what goes before you. The feeling others get from you on initial meeting.

The vowels of your name become your Soul Urge number also known as the Heart's Desire. It is said to reflect the inner you. It interprets and expresses how your feel.

Come back an visit get to know what all the numbers mean.

What is Astrology?

It is a pseudo science. Meaning it is not science but it does have some aspects of science attached to it.

Why can't it be science? Well because as we all know, the sun does not revolve around the earth. That is a geocentric system, we in fact, live in a heliocentric solar system (meaning all the planets revolve around the sun).

The basis of astrology is a geocentric system meaning that the Earth is the centre of the universe. Now for the purposes of astrology this is not wrong. Astrology is based on looking at the solar system with the individual being the centre of all things.

Let's be honest in our own minds we are the centre of our own universe.

So it matters to practitioners of astrology where all the planets, sun, moon and associated satellites are in relation to you at the moment of your birth.

I can hear all the pooh-whoers out there saying, people are more than 12 signs, and all those 12 signs can't be the same.Guess what in astrology you are 100% more than your star sign. You might be born between 21 March and 20 April (or thereabouts) and be an Aries - meaning your sun sign is an Aries but then we find need your ascendant (or rising sign) the sign that is rising over the horizon at the time you were born (let's say it was Libra), now you have 2 opposing sign making up a great proportion of your personality. Let's not forget we need to add in your moon sign.

So time for a little math
12 stars signs multiplied by 12 possible rising signs = 12 x 12 = 144 zodiac personalities
BUT we can't stop there we now have 144 zodiac personalities but there are 12 possible locations of your moon so now more math
144 x 12 = 1728 personality types.
So it goes on - where is your Mercury, your Venus, your Mars etc and as we multiply these based on your time of birth we then get millions of possibilities of who you are.

So don't forget to come back - find out more about you!
